Impact on Electronics Industry Explored: Toronto, October 4
Atlanta: The ECIA 2016 Regional Series event in Toronto will be held at the Hilton Toronto Airport Hotel & Suites October 4th beginning at 4:00 p.m.. This networking and dinner event features two speakers explaining the impact of two important cutting edge technologies: the challenges and opportunities of the wearables market in medical applications and how building systems and IT are quickly converging to create smart buildings. Learn how these two important advances will impact our industry and our lives.
The evening begins with Travis Stevens, vice president of engineering, Orpyx Medical Technologies. The Calgary based company develops wearable pressure sensor technology focused on medical applications. In his role, Travis is responsible for overseeing the development of Orpyx’s industry-leading plantar pressure products, the SurroSense RxTM, the LogRTM and the SurroGait RxTM. “The Challenge and Promise of Medical Wearables” looks at the potential of wearables to revolutionize the treatment and delivery of health care as well as the technological and regulatory obstacles.
Next up will be William MacGowan, Director, Smart Building Digitization of Cisco’s Industry Transformation Business Division in Canada. Bill will discuss how digitization is dramatically changing the way cities look at building development. With his extensive experience within the AEC (Architects Engineers Constructors) Space, Bill is intimate with the design, implementation and operation of dynamic building systems. Building our buildings “like we have always done”, will not be enough for a smart and connected future. With innovation in analytics, Internet of Things, mobility, cloud, and applications, there has never been a better time to digitally transform our built environment, he says.
"Each speaker offers a unique vision into the future application of digital technology which is especially relevant since both reside in Canada," noted John Denslinger, CEO and president of ECIA. "I am very proud of the Regional Series team for their excellent selection and attendees should look forward to a lively and illuminating evening. ECIA events offer an important opportunity for local members to stay in touch and become educated on issues impacting their businesses. And, there is a delicious meal amid fine company, as well," he concluded.
